Predators General Manager David Poile announced Thursday that defenseman Ryan Ellis is expected to miss several months due to recovery from offseason surgery to repair a lower-body ailment. Allegedly knee surgery recovery is what is holding Ellis back from returning to the lineup.

Poile is hopeful Ellis will be able to return around the start of the new year.

The 26-year-old blueliner tallied a career-high 16 goals and 38 points during the 2016-17 season and battled injuries during the playoffs while helping to guide Nashville to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.

Those injuries seem to have taken a toll on the young player, requiring additional recovery into this regular season.

Josi, Ekholm, Subban … and who?

In terms of fantasy value, Yannick Weber plays the right side, which can pair with Josi. That being said moving Subban to play the right side of Josi is also entirely possible.

Keep in mind new addition Alexei Emelin can also make an impact in the Preds and your fantasy lineup.
