Alex Ovechkin hit a hole in one during the Caps Care Classic at the Springfield Golf and Country Club in Springfield, Va., in 2006 Ovechkin took a shot on the par-3, 160-yard fourth hole that landed short of the green and rolled in.
In fairness, Ovechkin had hit a number of tee shots on the hole before his “ace,” as he greeted groups, signed autographs and posed for photographs throughout the day. Nevertheless, it was the first time golfing for one of the NHL’s biggest superstars.“This was my first time playing golf. I guess it’s easy,” Ovechkin said with a smile. “Maybe it would be better if I played golf, not hockey. It was lucky, though. I have to play again now, see how I can do.”
Ovechkin was an honorary co-chairman of the event, which raised money for the Children’s National Medical Center, Athletes Against Autism and Washington Capitals Charities.
