Golden State is now one win away from the best season of basketball ever played. 16-0 in the playoffs is a statistic unheard of in any major sport. Tonight they passed the Pittsburgh Penguins playoff winning streak of 14 games in a row (set in ’92-93′) and truly beat the Cavs once again.
Lebron is still the best player in the world, but he doesn’t have the best team in the world. He played 46 minutes tonight and still couldn’t lead the Cavs, as he recorded 39 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists.
Kyrie had 38 points 6 rebounds and 3 assists, with arguably his best game this post season.
Kevin Love was a huge difference maker tonight in his peripheral stats. He recorded 6 steals, 13 rebounds an assist and 9 points. The big three combined for 86 points tonight.
The Cavs bench had 11 points tonight.
In terms of a comeback, I wouldn’t call it a comeback. The Cavs largest lead came at the end of the third, where they had the largest lead of the series. Lebron almost played the entire quarter along with 12 minutes in the fourth.
Kevin Durant drained a big 3-pointer with 45.3 seconds left and scored 31 points as the Golden State Warriors moved within one win of postseason perfection. The Warriors trailed by six with three minutes left before Durant brought them back, scoring 14 in the fourth.
With their 15th straight win, the Warriors have the longest postseason streak for any team in the four major professional sports. No team has ever overcome a 3-0 deficit.
Durant had 31, Curry had 26 and Klay had 30 in the victory tonight. They combined for 87 points, while the bench chipped in for 23 points. Their big 3 recorded one more point, with fewer minutes played.
Durant and Klay played the most minutes with 41, and Curry had 39.
Here are the Team Stats for tonight’s game.
